The Outriders Cycling Festival – Killarney @ Killarney Race Track

Venue & Parking

Please use the Killarney Race Circuit South Gate (Motorcross Gate) – Parking will be available behind the new pit area – no access will be granted via Koeberg Rd Gate. No parking in the old pits area will be allowed – this are to be used for Criterium racing events.

Categories

The following racing and sanctioned categories will be able to take part;

  • Cat 1 – A CSA full domestic racing license is required – typically PPA A seeding
  • Cat 2 – CSA Membership is required – typically PPA B, C and D seeding
  • Cat 3 – CSA Membership is required – typically PPA E and upwards seeding

Open categories;

  • Club Members Challenge – Non league riders wanting to experience a safe fun event with some friendly competition
  • Ladies will join Cat 3 for their race

Times

We need to follow a strict timetable due to the requirement to allow resident traffic through. Please ensure you are at the start well in advance of your start time.

This event forms part of the WP Road Racing League 2019. Online entries received before midnight on Friday, 5 April, will qualify for club and youth discounts. After this time online entries will close and late registration will be possible on the day at the event. No discounts will apply on the day.

IMPORTANT: You will be charged R50 for the annual WP Cycling Road League number!
This number will be used for ALL WP Cycling road races in 2019, including the scholars.

All league riders will need to purchase a new 2019 series entry, which includes a race number, at R50 when purchased online. This will automatically be added to your registration.

You can optionally purchase a Mobii timing tag if you would like to receive electronic timing and earn points at a cost of R150.  No tag, no time.

Prize and prize giving

Both races (Circuit & Criterium) count towards the points for the 2019 Road League and will be awarded according to the League Points System.

Criterium Circuit

We will be using the main straight start/finish section with an added ‘chicane’, then into the old pits, behind the garages (with some twists) and back on to the main straight again in an 800m loop.

Red Hill Road Race – WP Road Racing League @ Perdekloof

Club 100 are hosting this South Peninsula race for a second year after great success last year. This race has it all; A major climb, fast downhills and deceptive flats.

Registration and costs

This event forms part of the WP Road Racing League 2019. Online entries received before midnight on Friday, 12 April, will qualify for club and youth discounts. After this time online entries will close and late registration will be possible on the day at the event. No discounts will apply on the day and the full race fee of R300 will be payable.  An additional cash handling fee of R30 will be levied on each cash transaction to cover the cash deposit fees we are charged.

Registration will open at Cape Farmhouse Restaurant at 6h00 on Sunday

Course and distances

  • Category 1 – 75 kms (3 x 25kms)
  • Category 2 –  50 kms (2 x 25 kms)
  • Category 3 – 50 kms (2 x 25km)
  • Women – 50 kms (2 x 25km)
  • No scholars except Under 19’s who will race with Cat 1 or Cat 2

Participants who are more than 5 minutes off the pace from the main racing bunch may get disqualified at the discretion of the race director.

2019 SRAM WC XCO SERIES, RACE #3 @ Zevenwacht Wine Estate

The Third Race of the SRAM WC XCO Series, takes place at Zevenwacht Wine Estate in Kuilsriver on the 27 of April 2019.

Online Entries

Entries will open on Tuesday 9 April and will close on Monday 22 April

Late Entries:   These are possible at race registration on the Friday before the event, however there will be an additional late entry fee of R50.

Entry Fee:     This year, we are doing away with the Series Membership Fee, but the cost of each race entry will be higher.   We are still planning on free goodie bags for those who enter the WC Champs.

The race entry fee is R 220 for Nippers and Sprogs and R 340 for all other age groups.

Cycling South Africa Membership and Licence Requirements:   To register and race (and to qualify for regional or provincial colours), South African riders must hold a valid Cycling South Africa Membership or Cycling South Africa Full Racing Licence at the time of entry.

Juniors and Elites need to have Cycling South Africa Full Racing Licences and  all other categories may have Cycling South Africa Memberships.   For more information about Cycling South Africa, Click here

Race categories, Entry fees and Race times

Race categories are based on your 2019 Birthday Age and not on your current age.  For example, if you are now 10, but turning 11 on 20 December 2019, you are considered to be 11 for the whole of 2019 and will race 2019 as a Sprog.

Official and Compulsory Practice:   There will be an official practice on Saturday  27 April 2019, from 7:00 to 8:00.     It is compulsory for Nippers and Sprogs to practice the course.  This is for their safety – to give parents and riders the opportunity to identify which obstacles riders are not competent to ride and to ensure that they do not get lost en route !

If you wish to ride at Zevenwacht on any day before the 27 April, it will not be part of this event and you need to purchase an the relevant entry tickets from the venue and you will be governed by their terms and conditions.

2019 SRAM WC XCO CHAMPIONSHIPS & WC SERIES, RACE #4 @ DIAMANT ESTATE

The Fourth Race of the SRAM WC XCO Series and the Western Cape Champs take place on the 18th of May 2019 at Diamant Estate, Suid Agter Paarl Road.

Online Entries

Entries will open on Thursday 2 May and will close on Monday 13 May

Diamant Estate is situated a comfortable hour’s drive from Cape Town International Airport.    Not only is the estate in the heart of the Cape Winelands, but it is conveniently situated about halfway between the towns of Paarl and Franschoek.

The venues itself is set against the dramatic backdrop of the Paarl mountain, while breathtaking views from the front include an expanse of manicured lawns, vineyards and majestic Oak trees.   You might even catch a glimmer of Table mountain in the distance.

WP Road Racing League – Fort iKapa Wingfield @ Fort iKapa, Wingfield Military Base

Criterium racing returns to the WP Road Racing League with the Fort iKapa Criterium taking place inside  the military base.

Racing will take place around a 1.9 kilometre circuit.  It’s flat, it’s fast and it’s furious!!  Get your entries in.

Handicap Racing (Under 17 and 19)

The slowest group will start first, the second slowest group will start a few minutes behind and so on.  The time intervals between the different groups is determined by the Handicapper.  The Handicapper will take all sorts of things into consideration when determining who is to be in each of the groups and the start interval (riders’ previous race results, who in the various trade teams have entered, weather conditions, course profile, etc).

Separate Racing (Cat3 and Ladies)

The Category 3 and ladies will be on the circuit at the same time. Should the races merge at any time the race that is being caught must be neutralised.

WP Road Racing League – Slanghoek @ Die Eike Restaurant and Coffee

7 City Cycling & Athletic Club are travelling all the way from Cape Town to be the hosts of this WP Cycling Road League event.

The route is a mixture of rolling hills on the one side and a flat sometimes windy section called ‘Waaihoek’ on the other side. The race will cross the Breede River by using the low cement bridge. The weather looks great for Sunday so we shouldn’t experience any problems with the river crossing.

This event forms part of the WP Road Racing League 2019. Online entries received before midnight on Friday, 31 May, will qualify for club and youth discounts. After this time online entries will close and late registration will be possible on the day at the event. No discounts will apply on the day.

  • Category 2 –  80 kms (2 x 40 kms)
  • Category 3 –  80 kms (2 x 40 kms)
