XCO – 2019 WESTERN CAPE COLOUR’S CRITERIA

 

XCM – 2017 WP AND CAPE WINELANDS COLOUR CRITERIA:

At the recent general meeting of the EXCO held on the 29th July 2017, the Western Province Mountain Bike Commission approved the updated XCM colours criteria for the WP and Cape Winelands regions as follows:

WP/Cape Winelands Regional Series Points System:

  • Series three best results of four or more events to count
  • Top twenty positions per category to be given points
  • For regional colours we apply the UCI MTB points system to each race
  • A win receives 200, and then it goes down on a sliding scale 170, 150, 135, 125, 120, 115, 110, 105, 100, 96, 92, 88, 84, 80, 76, 72, 68, 64, 60
  • Each rider’s top three result points are then added together

Qualification for regional colours through the WP/Cape Winelands Regional Series Log

  1. Less than five participants per category – only first place qualifies
  2. Less than ten participants per category – only first and second to qualify
  3. Ten and greater than ten participants per category – top three to qualify

Qualification for regional colours through the WC Provincial Champs

  1. Individuals finishing in first (1st), second (2nd) or third (3rd) place at the Western Cape XCM Championships who have not qualified through the WP/Cape Winelands regional XCM series will qualify for Western Province/Cape Winelands XCM Colours only in the event that the race has a minimum of five participants. Participation in at least one WP/Cape Winelands XCM Series race is a pre-requisite.
  2. Individuals finishing in first (1st) place at the Western Cape XCM Championships who have not qualified through the WP/Cape Winelands XCM Series will qualify for Western Province XCM Colours only in the event that the race has fewer than five participants. Participation in at least one WP/Cape Winelands XCM Series race is a pre-requisite.

Qualification for regional colours through the SA National Champs

  1. Individuals finishing in first (1st), second (2nd) or third (3rd) place at the SA National XCM Championships who have not qualified through the first five (5) criteria will qualify for WP/Cape Winelands XCM Colours only in the event that the race has a minimum of five participants.
  2. Individuals finishing in first (1st) place at the SA National XCM Championships who have not qualified through the first six (6) criteria will qualify for WP/Cape Winelands XCM Colours only in the event that the race has fewer than five participants.

Should any objection be raised as to the inclusion of a rider not included during an evaluation of the parameters above, the final decision by exception rests with the EXCO.

Please note the following:

No individual can qualify for regional colours without a Cycling South Africa (CSA) license. Juniors and Elites are required to have domestic racing licenses. Any rider who wishes to be illegible for colours will be required to register before the extended date of 30 September 2017 and pay a registration fee of R100. XCO – 2016 WESTERN CAPE COLOURS CRITERIA:

Western Cape Colours for XCO are to be awarded at a prize-giving subsequent to the SA National XCO Championships.  Western Cape Colours for XCO are to be awarded according to the following criteria:

  1. The best qualifying three (3) events of the Western Cape XCO Cup Series will count       towards the determination of colours recipients in each category.
  2. If riders have the same points on the final series log, then the result of the last race of the series will determine which rider will receive colours.
  3. Individuals finishing in the first (1st) place on the series log in each official category of the Western Cape XCO Cup Series where the category has fewer than five (5) participants.
  4. Individuals finishing in the first (1st) and second (2nd) place on the series log in each official category of the Western Cape XCO Cup Series where the category has five (5) to nine (9) participants.
  5. Individuals finishing in first (1st), second (2nd) or third (3rd) place on the series log in each official category of the Western Cape XCO Cup Series where the category has a minimum of ten (10) participants.
  6. Individuals finishing in first (1st) place at the Western Cape Championships will qualify for Western Cape Colours in the event that the race has fewer than five participants. Participation in at least one Western Cape Cup Series race is a pre-requisite.
  7. Individuals finishing in first (1st) and second (2nd) place at the Western Cape Championships will qualify for Western Cape Colours in the event that the race has five (5) to nine (9) participants. Participation in at least one Western Cape Cup Series race is a pre-requisite.
  8. Individuals finishing in first (1st), second (2nd) or third (3rd) place at the Western Cape Championships will qualify for Western Cape Colours in the event that the race has a minimum of ten (10) participants.  Participation in at least one Western Cape Cup Series race is a pre-requisite.
  9. Individuals finishing in first (1st), second (2nd) or third (3rd) place in the SA XCO Cup Series.
  10. Individuals finishing in first (1st), second (2nd) or third (3rd) place at the SA National XCO Championships or African Continental Championships will qualify for Western Cape Colours in the event that the race has fewer than fifteen (15) participants.
  11. Individuals finishing in first (1st), second (2nd), third (3rd), fourth (4th) and fifth (5th) place at the SA National XCO Championships or African Continental Championships will qualify for Western Cape Colours only in the event that the race has a minimum of fifteen (15) participants.
  12. Should an objection be raised as to the inclusion of a rider not included during an evaluation of the parameters above, the final decision by exception rests with the EXCO.

ENDURO WESTERN CAPE COLOURS CRITERIA:

Enduro Series Points System:

  • Top twenty positions per category to be given points
  • For regional colours we apply the UCI MTB points system to each race
  • A win receives 200, and then it goes down on a sliding scale 170, 150, 135, 125, 120, 115, 110, 105, 100, 96, 92, 88, 84, 80, 76, 72, 68, 64, 60
  • Each rider’s top three result points are then added together

    Western Cape Colours for Enduro are to be awarded at a prize-giving subsequent to the Enduro Western Cape Race Series. Western Cape Colours for Enduro are to be awarded according to the following criteria:

    1. To be eligible for Provincial Colours, a rider must have valid Cycling SA Membership.

    2. In addition to the above, riders aged between 17 and 29 on 31 December of the racing year (i.e. juniors and elites) must have valid Full Racing Licence.

    3. If riders have the same points on the final series log, then the result of the last race of the series will determine which rider will receive colours.

    4. Individuals finishing in the first (1st) place on the series log in each official category of the EWC Series where the category has fewer than five (5) participants in one or more events in the series.

    5. Individuals finishing in the first (1st) and second (2nd) place on the series log in each official category of the EWC Series where the category has five (5) to nine (9) participants in one or more events in the series.

    6. Individuals finishing in first (1st), second (2nd) or third (3rd) place on the series log in each official category of the EWC Cup Series where the category has a minimum of ten (10) participants in all three events in the series.

    7. Individuals finishing in first (1st), second (2nd) or third (3rd) place at the SA National Enduro Championships will qualify for Western Cape Colours in the event that the race has fewer than fifteen (15) participants in their category.

    8. Individuals finishing in first (1st), second (2nd), third (3rd), fourth (4th) and fifth (5th) place at the SA National Enduro Championships will qualify for Western Cape Colours only in the event that the race has a minimum of fifteen (15) participants in their category.

    9. Should an objection be raised as to the inclusion of a rider not included during an evaluation of the parameters above, the final decision rests with the EWC Committee.
