RACE UPDATE!!!

We are including a 40km Fun Ride as part of this event.  Details have been added below.  So if you’re not sure about racing in the league, at least you can come and enjoy the beautiful Slanghoek Valley in a more relaxed ride, yet still with the full support of a league race.

We’re back in the beautiful Slanghoek Valley for the final of our league races after we had to cancel the previous race.  Please note we have moved back to our previous venue at Eike Saal which is just before the Goudini Road intersection.

Entries have reopened for those who missed out first time round

The route is a mixture of rolling hills on the one side and a flat sometimes windy section called ‘Waaihoek’ on the other side. The race will cross the Breede River by using the low cement bridge. Please keep on checking social media should this area experience heavy rains.

Registration and costs

The event forms part of the WP Road League for 2023.  Race entry costs R275 for senior riders and R175 for scholars and U19 Development.  Entry into the league for the race number and timing board will cost an additional R50.  For people wanting to join the fun ride, adults will pay R150 plus R50 for a race number and timing board and Under 15 up to U19 development will pay R75 plus R50 for a race number and timing board if they don’t already have one.

Anyone who has not previously entered the league at the other events will be charged an additional R50 for your race number and timing board

Cancellation Policy

The organisers of the Western Province Road League reserve the right to cancel the race should circumstances dictate.  If we cancel the race 7 or more days before the time (on or before 6 August 2023) we will refund those who have entered 60% of their race fee.  Anytime after that, we will refund 30% of your entry fee.  Alternatively, arrangements can be made with the registration team to carry the race fee over to the rescheduled event.  Should you request a refund, when the rescheduled event is announced, you will be required to pay the full amount again.

Entrants who cancel their entries 7 or more days before the time (on or before 6 August 2023) will be refunded 30% of their entry fee.  Cancellations in the 7 days prior to the event, or on the day itself, will not be refunded.

This event has been vetted and accepted as a 94.7 seeding event.

WC Omnium Track Championships 2023 @ Bellville Velodrome

WC Track is hosting, a very first, Omnium Track Champs from 21-22 October 2023 at the Bellville Velodrome, Cape Town.

We just hosted the National Omnium champs where riders competed for the top spots in the various age categories. The WC Omnium champs won’t be nothing less than fast, hard paced racing.

The event will be run according to the categories listed below. Despite how the entry system will capture your registration, the final awards will be based to these categories alone.

Day 1 is set aside for the Elite, Junior and U17 Boys only. Day 2 will see the scholars and Master’s categories competing.

Slent Road TTT – 2023 @ Slent Road, Klipheuwel

SLENT ROAD TEAM TIME TRIAL

Its that time of year again where we test the team tactics ahead of the Double Century.  Come and practice your ability to ride as a group by entering a team into the 60km team time trial.

Teams of 6 riders will tackle the circuit twice with the time for the team being recorded when the 4th rider crosses the finish line.

All riders must enter individually and Team Captains or a nominated member must email the Team Name and the names of all team members to [email protected]

Teams must consist of at least 4 riders and a maximum of 6.  If you would like to take part, but don’t have a full team, please send an email to Sue who will try and match you up with suitable riders.

Entries will open on 4 October 2023 so get chatting to your friends and get those teams together.

Paarl Boxing Day Track Challenge 2023 @ Faure Stadium

BOXING DAY ENTRIES ARE NOW OPEN!

  • The 125th staging of the historic Paarl Boxing Day Track Challenge will see South Africa’s top professionals as well as a host of international riders tackle each in front of the passionate Faure Street Stadium crowd.
  • Past winner and international star, Jonas Rickaert has also confirmed his participation. A total of R100 000 is up for grabs in prize money this year. Paarl Boxing Day is well known worldwide as one of the oldest events in all forms of cycling in the world.
  • The meeting started in 1897. The saying goes in Paarl that you might be the best in the world in a certain track cycling event, but it doesn’t mean much if you’re second best in Paarl!
  • Paarl is the cradle of track cycling in South-Africa. Boxing Day is not only the biggest track cycling event in Africa, it’s also one of the most spectated sporting events on the continent. The meeting concludes with the famous 25 Mile Race and the winner of the final event is regarded as the winner of the day. In addition to a prize purse, the Minnaar Cup floating trophy, which dates to 1908, is also up for grabs.

Eligibility:
This event is open to all age categories and nationalities.
All riders must be in possession of a valid Cycling South Africa Track Racing License (Cycling SA Membership is not sufficient for Juniors and older).
Rider licenses have been verified before the time but must still be presented at registration.
Riders are not considered registered until all administrative requirements have been fulfilled:
• Entry form has been completed in full together with signed indemnity form
• Entry Fee has been paid in full
