Paardeberg – WP Road Racing League @ Perdeberg Cellars

Cyclopaths Cycling Club will once again be hosting a WP Road Racing League at the Perdeberg Winery.

Early online entries the Category races close on midnight Friday  3 May 2019 – take advantage of the early online discount.

Entry fee – R300 per rider

Early entries for the Category Races registered before midnight on 3 May 2019 will receive a discount of R100 per rider

Late Entries – R300 per rider

WP Road Racing League – Fort iKapa Wingfield @ Fort iKapa, Wingfield Military Base

Criterium racing returns to the WP Road Racing League with the Fort iKapa Criterium taking place inside  the military base.

Racing will take place around a 1.9 kilometre circuit.  It’s flat, it’s fast and it’s furious!!  Get your entries in.

 

 

Registration and costs

This event forms part of the WP Road Racing League 2019. Online entries received before midnight on Friday, 17 May, will qualify for club and youth discounts. After this time online entries will close and late registration will be possible on the day at the event. No discounts will apply on the day.

Course and distances

  • Category 1 –  1 hour plus 1 lap (start 11h25)
  • U/19 boys – ride with either Cat 1 or Cat 2
  • Category 2 – 50 minutes plus 1 lap (start 10h15)
  • U/17 boys – ride with Cat 2
  • Category 3 –  40 minutes plus 1 lap (start 9h30)
  • Women – 40 minutes plus 1 lap (start 8h40)
  • U/15 – 20 minutes plus 1 lap on the 1,0km circuit (start 8h10)
  • U/11 & U/13 – 15 minutes plus 1 lap on the 1,0km circuit (start 7h45)

Youth Festival – Killarney @ Killarney Race Track

Venue & Parking

Please use the Killarney Race Circuit South Gate (Motorcross Gate) – Parking will be available behind the new pit area – no access will be granted via Koeberg Rd Gate. No parking in the old pits area will be allowed – this are to be used for Criterium racing events.

Categories

The following racing and sanctioned categories will be able to take part;

  • Cat 1 – A CSA full domestic racing license is required – typically PPA A seeding
  • Cat 2 – CSA Membership is required – typically PPA B, C and D seeding
  • Cat 3 – CSA Membership is required – typically PPA E and upwards seeding
  • All Scholar age categories

Open categories;

  • Open youth category to get those kids on their bikes

Late registration and sign-on all categories will start at 07h00. Late registration and sign-on will close 15 minutes before the start of each race.

Handicap Racing (Under 17 and 19)

The slowest group will start first, the second slowest group will start a few minutes behind and so on.  The time intervals between the different groups is determined by the Handicapper.  The Handicapper will take all sorts of things into consideration when determining who is to be in each of the groups and the start interval (riders’ previous race results, who in the various trade teams have entered, weather conditions, course profile, etc).

Separate Racing (Cat3 and Ladies)

The Category 3 and ladies will be on the circuit at the same time. Should the races merge at any time the race that is being caught must be neutralised.

After this time online entries will close and late registration will be possible on the day at the event. No discounts will apply on the day.

IMPORTANT: You will be charged R50 for the annual WP Cycling Road League number!
This number will be used for ALL WP Cycling road races in 2019, including the scholars.

All league riders will need to purchase a new 2019 series entry, which includes a race number, at R50 when purchased online. This will automatically be added to your registration.

You can optionally purchase a Mobii timing tag if you would like to receive electronic timing and earn points at a cost of R150.  No tag, no time.

WP Road Racing League – Slanghoek @ Die Eike Restaurant and Coffee

7 City Cycling & Athletic Club are travelling all the way from Cape Town to be the hosts of this WP Cycling Road League event.

The route is a mixture of rolling hills on the one side and a flat sometimes windy section called ‘Waaihoek’ on the other side. The race will cross the Breede River by using the low cement bridge. The weather looks great for Sunday so we shouldn’t experience any problems with the river crossing.

After this time online entries will close and late registration will be possible on the day at the event. No discounts will apply on the day.

The Sports Trust Community Cycle Race – De Doorns @ Orchard Primary School

The Sports Trust is hosting another exciting Community Cycle Race on Saturday 8 June 2019 at Orchards Primary School, Sunnyside Orchards, De Doorns. Two race distances will be available, plus many other activities.

After a lengthy break we are back to racing again. Even though we are in the winter season its still a good time to keep the fitness level up to standard.

To add some excitement to the racing you will have the chance of winning back your entry fee. Meaning if you win an event you will win back your entry fee. So the more races you win the more cash in your pocket! Only the winner of each race is eligible for prize money.

Cape Town Giants CC is again hosting this exciting criterium. This road event takes place right in the the heart of the southern suburbs at the Ferndale Industrial area. Criteriums are fast and exciting not only for the participant but also for spectators. All categories from under 11’s to the Elite cyclist are catered for. Refreshments will be available.

Randall Februarie Memorial – WP Road Racing League @ Killarney Motor Racing Circuit

This event is hosted by Phoenix Cycling Club in memory of all cyclists who have lost their lives over the years but especially in memory of the late Randall Februarie who was a member of this club.

Registration will take place at Killarney International Raceway from 6h30 on the morning of the race.

Raithby Road Race @ Raithby Sports Fields

The Wannabees Cycling Club is hosting this race again for a second year.   Come and enjoy what is a tough little 10k loop – 9 times for Cat 1.  Could be the hardest 90k they’ll ride this year!

League points are up for grabs so don’t miss out on this one!

There will also be an open category for scholars and those not sure if they want to really race.  This is pegged at a maximum of 3 loops of 10km.

Online entries received before midnight on Friday, 30 August 2019, will qualify for club and youth discounts. After this time online entries will close and late registration will be possible on the day at the event. No discounts will apply on the day.  Open category entries will be R50 on the day with proceeds going towards the Raithby Methodist Primary School’s upgrade programme
